You have done a search of the VS forum haven't you?

22.5k for a Y redemption to JFK - that's the current sale rate, which includes a 50% discount - normal spend rate is http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb...iles_table.jsp.

It's 40 k for an upgrade from PE to J, but 60k for an upgrade from Y to J (yes, VS allow double upgrades). Unlike BA, you are restricted as to what PE fares you can buy to upgrade though, but it's a little bit wider than full fare (W, S, Y, B, L, M).
