As for whether they're rubbish, this board will tell you it depends on the type of engine it has. But it'll be just fine.
I was quite excited about traveling on the Intercity 225. I see that this may be an option but I have to go by bus for one hour. Is it a normal coach or some dodgy bus. I am travelling full fare first class.
Or could I take the 9am train to York, spend an hour looking at the city and then hop onto the HST for the reat of the journey. Although i have a reserved seat on the 10am HST, it is Saturday and I'm sure there should be a seat in first class on 9am train.
I read here once the HST was very bad.
