I managed to squeak out MVP status for 2009 and have already enjoyed selecting exit row seating on my first trip this year.

I have a few questions about the F upgrades:

1) Are the 48 hour "other fare" upgrades completely automatic? If so, do I get email or something at the 48 hour mark?

2) Do the upgrades work on award travel? Or partner airlines?
