Definitely a good article for the budget traveler amateur (and I don't say that disparagingly).

However, most people who have budget traveled before know most of these tips, and they can discern which of the author’s tips are truly feasible to capitalize on. Many hostels – and hotels for that matter – let you stay for free if you work 20 or so hours a week. Coming across free food is certainly difficult, but maybe possible. Free transportation is the toughest part of this. I mean, are you going to hitch hike your way across 5 states to get to your destination? Probably not.

Also, the author is grossly discounting the difficulty of budget travel. The article and accompanying pictures make it seem glamorous, which it never is.

I had to laugh at his comment about the ease of getting a job that requires travel. You better be damn good at your job to have the ability to travel often. I work in consulting, so I travel every single week, but believe you me, it ain’t a job for everyone. Even though I stay at Hiltons and fly FC due to status, it is a tough lifestyle for some to adjust to. However, the only reason I still keep this job is because of the travel.

The best part for me is traveling anywhere I want to on the weekend. I usually fly to a new city every 2 weekends and stay at a hostel. Company pays for everything up to $400. I never go over

To sum it up, I do like the article. Hopefully it will attract more people to become travelers, not tourists.
