Sounds like a experience I had some years ago. I got rebooked from CPH-ORD-SFO-SAN to CPH-FRA-SFO-SAN, and naturally, this caused so much confusion for the three *A-partners SAS, Lufthansa and United that my baggage was lost and didn't showed up until I was back home 12 days later.

None of the carriers would take responsibility for my lost baggage and all tried to forward me to one of the others two, so I could make my claims there... Terrible customer service!

But there were some good things to; when delayed for a night on the outgoing trip in CPH, SAS placed me at the airport Hilton (more or less because I told the staff that I would not tolerate anything else), During my trip I shopped a new wardrobe at SAS expenses and got me a new suitcase. Off cause this was a hazzle to get through, and it took some time and a lot of correspondence with SAS customer service before they agreed to refund my receipts for clothing, phone-calls to the different *A-partners regarding my baggage and some meals during my delay in CPH.

As a top of the iceberg, I also had trouble when going back home from LAX. When my original route was changed to go through FRA on my outgoing trip, Lufthansa had apparently rebooked my home-ticket instead of my outgoing-ticket. So when I was trying to check in for the UA LAX-ORD flight the told me that my ticket was already used. At this time I was not even surprised, that they not were able to get me on the plane. Again none of the *A-carriers would take responsibility, SAS who had sold the original ticket said it was a UA-fligt and they should solve the problem, United said it was a mistake made by Lufthansa and they would have to correct it and Lufthansa said, that since I was not flying back with any LH-flight it was not their responsibility.
So surpise surpise, I had to stay at LAX for one more night witch was okay since I got a free room at the Radisson airport.

Furthermore I also received a SAS voucher with a 300€ off for my next ticket purchase.

All in all it was not fun, but without the Hotels and refunds I would definitely try to avoid SAS and *A in the future
