First thread here so I apologize if this was covered and I missed it.
I'm trying to book an itinerary from Okinawa to the US in August with a MP saver award. Award reservations could not find availability in mid-August for ANA out of OKA connecting with UA transpacific flights. Is it this hard to book domestic flights on ANA with a MP Award or could availability open up if I wait? Any tips? Thanks in advance.
Mid-August is going to be difficult because of
Obon, one of the three major holidays for most Japanese (the other two are Golden Week and New Year). In addition, Okinawa is one of the most popular summer destinations, therefore many award tickets are booked as soon as they become available. Try to stay away from Mid-August, or purchase the domestic segment yourself (not going to be cheap though). Another option is to try to obtain an award between OKA and ICN on OZ, and then fly from ICN to SFO on UA. Also, you can fly from OKA to TPE on CI, and try to obtain a UA award tix from TPE to USA via NRT.
