In the past, there was nothing called "transit" at these airports. I think the new PEK T3 allows transit within the same concourse. There is only Concourse E now, but I have no idea how people can transit between Concourse E and future concourses without passing through immigration. It is a little difficult with immigration in Concourse E and checked luggage to be picked up at the main building about 1.5km away.
