Obviously, some of this stuff needs to get definitively sorted out in the very near future. It's going to be hard to operate all of these NW flights from Delta hubs (e.g., ATL-NRT, ATL-HNL) if the Delta customer wing can't upgrade on them in the usual and customary fashion.
