Here's a little related aside / anecdote:

3 years ago when one of my little scoundrels was just 2, we all flew from LHR to TLV on LY on the evening flight. It left the ground at 11pm. By 1am he had not yet fallen asleep and was very unquiet (this was in Y) - and despite our attempts to calm him, he would not calm down. For about an hour until 1am I saw the man in the seat in front looking over at his wife once every few minutes and making what seemed to me like a gesture indicating she should do something about us. Indeed, at 1am she got up, came to my seat and said 'would you mind if I help you?' At this point any ego I had about being able to calm him myself was long gone and I said 'sure, why not'. She then proceeded to give me instructions as follows: sit down with your legs crossed at the ankles, seat your kid on your lap and cross his legs in the opposite direction. Cross his arms over his chest and then do the same with your arms in the opposite order. After that she put 4 fingers on his forehead and relaxed. He was asleep 30 seconds later and remained asleep for the entire flight.

I asked her what she had done and she said it was the passing of relaxing positive energy to him that got him to sleep and that I would not be able to do it myself as his parent. Whether or not this was ........, who knows - I know that what she did worked wonders! I took the lady’s card for future reference but admittedly have never followed up on it and have never really had a repeat of that situation.

Maybe BA should hire such a wizard for all night flights!
