I've stayed at that Homewood Suites. Nice place and they have complementary happy hour (tho when I was staying there on business, I usually got back too late to enjoy it.). It is hard to find a parking place there, but if you don't have a car, then it's not a big deal. You CAN walk or take a bus to the Pike Place Market and then you are in the heart of downtown Seattle.

Take the opportunity to take a round trip on one of the ferries. Go to the Seattle Art Museum and definitely go to Ivars for fish n chips.
