I like this hotel for its value room rates but it is the maddest place I have stayed.
We were given a platinum 'upgrade' which turned out to be exactly the room we had originally booked...perhaps the infamous 'sea view upgrade'. If you stood at the far end of the window and swivelled your eyes right round, it was indeed possible to see the sea!
Arriving at 11pm there was no platinum gift and the bar was closed but we were told we could have anything we wanted from the minibar, which was just the ticket....except our minibar turned out to contain nothing except one bottle of water

Despite the outrageous prices we called down to order from the room service only to be told they didn't have the first item we wanted, or the second, or the alternative, or the next alternative, or indeed anything we asked for. Nothing from the snack menu either. When I asked what they
did have they replied they had one portion of hake, a bowl of nuts and two bottles of wine! We ordered one of the bottles and went to bed.
Wakeup called was missed by the hotel, so we missed breakfast. Asked for a comp lunch instead to be told that wasn't possible.
Room decor was a bit tired but okay. However, the carpet in the corridor had to be seen to be believed! It was a wall to wall pebble design, making the corridor look like a cheap film set or a Las Vegas hookup joint. Not necessarily a bad thing but totally at odds with the surrounding rooms. Weird.
Location good, but it will never be as good as the Le Meridien up the road. This place was a cheaper bolthole for one night and, service kinks aside, suited that purpose perfectly.
