the cynical side of me tends to think its just a profit initiative except that in this case, the currency is Miles. No doubt when more of SQ planes are replaced with their "new" business seats, they will eventually have to open it to * alliance. I'm not sure but being part of star alliance, me thinks they have to offer seats for redemptions on all their sectors right? but not every flight.
But at the rate they are introducing their service cutbacks, maybe by that time, an SQ flight will feel like a United flight.
