Well you could have asked for just a few ice cubes. Let's get real here, the airlines these days are in a form of survival, so if they can save, say 10 cans of soda on one flight x hundreds of flights per day = substantial cost savings over the period of a month/year. Sure it's annoying, but I can forgo my whole can of soda on a 45 minute flight knowing that down the line it will help the airline's bottom line in these tough times. However in all my travels on AA over the past year I've always been served the full can on flights over two hours.
