What kind of service were you expecting in Y on such a short flight? You won't get any free peanuts on AA.
If you are able to purchase a kiosk upgrade to F, you can expect a little more attention on the drink service (free alcohol, maybe even a pre-departure drink if you're lucky) and a small package of snack mix.
