Basically, this means that

LONDON - MANCHESTER is now three times hourly, and will typically take about 2hrs 10 minutes. LONDON - BIRMINGHAM is also three times hourly, journey time about 1hr 25minutes. LONDON - LIVERPOOL is still hourly, but will now take 2hrs 10 minutes.

The big change is with fares, with a new level (from £5.00 each way).
For railcard holders it's even cheaper, with a Family & Friends railcard, single fares for two adults and two children are now from £8.60 PER FAMILY.... (based on Birmingham) and £13.60 PER FAMILY to Manchester.

The cheapest I can find are Advance fares - £23.50 one way - and midweek the best is Off Peak - £33.20 one way. This was £31.30 in 2008 - 6% increase
