I stayed there a few months ago. Had never been to East Lansing before, so I didn't know what to expect. It was a very nice Marriott. Nothing exceedingly special, but nothing bad.

A couple notes: If you drive there from the east, both my Mapquest directions and GPS routed me through a quiet, residential neighborhood. I kept thinking the directions couldn't be right, but it led me straight to the hotel. In retrospect, it was much easier to approach the hotel from the residential side than to fight downtown traffic patterns.

The parking garage is next to the hotel and requires your key to get in. Check into the hotel first, before going into the garage.

The area outside the hotel has many restaurants and is very walkable. I was there during finals, though, so it was quiet and some places even closed early.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat, but wouldn't go out of my way to stay there, if you know what I mean. (As in the JW Marriott 16 miles north of Honolulu is really nice and would go out of my way to stay there if I needed to be in Honolulu, but the downtown Springfield Marriott is so horrid that I wouldn't stay there even if I was attending a conference being held in the hotel.)

Hope that helps.
