OK after reviewing the posts here's my 2 cents.
I do strongly believe that a woman in an advanced pregnancy stage should get to board away from the cattle call. That's just safety.
I do not think that your logic is totally sound (not knocking you but playing the game to get what you want)
Should you get to board first because she is pregnant? Handling two rollers isn't that big a deal. I'd say, what a Chicago cop told me once as he was issuing me a ticket for helping my wife who was pregnant take the bags to the skycap at ORD ten years ago... "Mister, who got her pregnant?" That was the end of that discussion.
EVERYONE feels they have a right to board early. an old football injury... I need my bags near me, blah, blah, blah.
The boarding process is usually a zoo. Making a ton of special exceptions just adds to it. It is what it is.
I would have just gone at the very tail end of group one, and I bet they would have let you go... Giving you a little buffer before group two. (notice I said "little"
