It is quite simple really.

People that keep harping on in their personalised diatribes to "the rest of us" that somehow First class air travel (or C class) is "public transport" seem to be on a different planet. The promises made by providers about First class and business class travel is about persuading potential customers that the First Class Experience is anything other than being like Public Transport.

In order to justify an unjustifiable differential cost to people that can afford the difference (miles or cash) to take the "F Experience" they make a number of representations about the product to differentiate it from other classes of travel. The promises are a mix of being both very specific and some simply through common sense implied. Calm and peace and relaxing are specificly stated. Consistency and the removal of a lottery and the increased expectation of certainty is implied in return for the very heavy cost premium. Against those promises accepting a booking that includes bookings for babies doesn't (IMHO) include taking reasonable care to ensure the provision of what has been promised. I don't mind if I have bought a ticket where due to the lesser cost of the ticket I could expect it - but where promises have been made I'd like the promiser to make a reaonable effort to provide it - not make it in the full knowledge that it is in fact a lottery over which they will make no real effort to reduce their chances of providing the promised product.

BA are a highly sophisticated organisation where every consideration is fully commercialised. That's the plus side of WW. Having your commercial cake and eating it is OK as long as you take full responsibility.

BA should either reduce the promise it makes or make a better effort to provide it.
