Most people that are not on Flyertalk are just not that smart. Sure they could change their ticket online or at the ITM on the day of the flight for only $25 but many would just talk to an agent on the phone or at the airport and pay a hefty fare difference. The agent would never tell someone they could go online or to the machine and save hundreds of dollars mainly because they do not even know it themselves.
