Thanks, folks... Those fares mentioned should be disappearing within minutes but I won't be booking them yet. US seems to be a fare leader right now and I have a hunch they'll come back later.

I wouldn't be doing that itinerary for a mileage run per se, but my primary airline is UA, and those extra segs would come in handy if UA/US ended up happening before the year were out.
