Well, it depends on how much peace of mind is worth to you Pay the change fees for a new confirmed later flight, or take a chance, endure some probable discomfort and save some $$. You may even luck out if your outbound US flight is delayed considerably!

I know that, as a US FF on US metal, US folks would take care of me if I miss my flight, and even upgrade me up front if there's room on a later flight. Knowing that, I'm more willing to take a chance. It's been a long time since I've been in SJU, and I don't know what they can do to accomodate non-US FFs there...
