At worst, it's a $150 change fee to US plus more if tix prices have gone up since. From what I hear, those LIAT flights do not have the best on-time records, and you may need to give yourself more time for a stress-free connection at SJU.

We will now arrive on LIAT (if they are on schedule) only about 40 minutes before our scheduled departure on USAirways. Based on what I've heard about waiting for our baggage, going through customs, security, etc, it seems that we will misconnect. Even if we make it, it seems unlikely that our bags will. US does seem to have departures about once an hour, so if we miss this connection, there will be more flights.
Are you suggesting that we simply wing it and figure that US will rebook us on a later flight? We would be standby though, with a high likelihood of middle seats, but it would avoid us from paying any fees!
