It's been a couple of months since I was last in here but I am pleased to see they do now have lovely soft toilet roll, rather than the rip your arse to shreads recycled stuff they seem to use in First on the aircraft which doubles up as boarding passes from the SSCI machines I think.
The dining room service still hasn't improved though I see. Mrs BA1A ordered the Caerphilly cheese, spinach and leek tart served with a free range poached egg, Meon Valley watercress and beetroot salad with lemon dressing and I ordered the Classic Bookmaker sandwich - medium grilled minute steak served between slices of warm buttered toast with mustard, parsley and sweetcorn relish.
The salad that came with the tart was organic or to put it another way, unwashed, as it still had live creatures in it (no it wasn't a scorpion). The minute steak was nice enough but the toast was all soggy and there wasn't a hint of mustard or parsley anywhere. There was a limp salad with it, and I was not offered any dressing to liven it up.
After finishing the meal we sat for nearly twenty minutes without anyone coming to clear away or offer us dessert. In the end I had to get up and find someone to bring us a menu and ask for the plates to be cleared
For dessert Mrs BA1A ordered the caramelised lemon tart with creme fraiche and tarragon sorbet and I ordered the warm apple cake with crumble topping, orange sabayon sauce and raspberry pureee. Guess what we got? A caramelised lemon tart with raspberry sorbet and a warm apple cake with no orange sabayon sauce and no raspberry pureee
The champagne is Pol Roger so it's not all bad news in here
