Hamilton Princess
I find the hotel's location (in downtown Hamilton) to be excellent. But I must state that I am NOT a beach person, so the pink sand of Bermuda is not a prerequisite for me.
It's centrally-located, and walk, bus, or ferry are all without striking distance. The hotel also runs a shuttle ferry to Southampton.
Rooms are spacious. We used a suite upgrade and got a suite. Very spacious. The description said 575 sq ft, and I believe it.
Many parts of the hotel have been renovated (I saw the flat screen TVs in some rooms across from us). Some parts are being renovated right now. Our room has not been renovated, however. Still, it was fine. Certainly comfortable. Room (suite) has a huge bathroom with separate bath and shower. Two sinks. There's a safe in the room. Two TVs in the suite. Coffeemaker. HSIA. And even a balcony. Lots of closet space. Beds are comfortabe, typical of Fairmonts.
Service was excellent. We were greeted by name as soon as we stepped off the taxi. I have no idea how. Most of the staff made a point of greeting us by name during our stay. Quite impressive. Was EVERYONE great? No. But overall, I think the staff was courteous and helpful. Some were exceedingly friendly and nice. Really helped to make our stay special.
We took the Fairmont ferry to Southampton one night and had dinner at the Newport Room. I highly recommend it. It's wonderful, both in terms of food and service.
We had afternoon tea at the Princess. Pretty good. Typical Fairmont. But I can't believe this is rated one of the Top 10 Afternoon Teas, though. It was good, nonetheless.
Hotel has both freshwater and salt water pools. Very nice. Exercise room is nicely equipped as well.
Good breakfast at the Harley. There's also a (much) cheaper alternative at the HP coffee shop next to the front desk area.
Overall a very good stay. And Bermuda is simply gorgeous. We look forward to returning, both to Bermuda and the Princess. ^
