Thank you trueblu, La Gavroche sounds good then.
Dining alone thing isn't a huge deal as such but I don't want the restaurant to mind me occupying a table on my own. I'm quite used to eating out on my own but I don't want to feel like I'm being a nuisance.

Swanhunter, thank you once again, Murano sounds good too then, even if it lacks atmosphere. I'd rather have good food without atmosphere than bad food with atmosphere (BTW La Gavroche 'jacket' thing doesn't bother me as it'll still be cold enough for me to want to wear a jacket anyway - I'm a stuffy dresser in any case.)

PSUhorty, thank you, I love Chinese food, so that would be a great idea for some casual meals out with some of my friends for me.

dergon darkhelm, thanks, that's a handy list to have. Might try Nobu from there. If you come across a good place in January, please let me know - I have London visits in Jan, Feb and March now.
