Phone chargers are like $5, to me it's easier to get a phone you want and buy the chargers if you need them.
Motorola phones look for a special circuit in the charger before they let the charger start charging. It's some sort of overload protection. The upshot is that Motorola phones need a genuine Motorola charger, or one specifically made to be compatible with them. Other mini-USB devices will charge fine off a Motorola charger.
