To complete the above answers, on wholly domestic flights any amount of liquid can be taken. Domestic legs of international flights (eg Qantas flights numbered 1 to 399) depart from international terminal and thus international rules apply (no liquids greater than 100ml in a 1l plastic ziplock bag).

It seems odd to ban them on Intl flights but have them on local - is there any point then? terrorists like the ones caught in the UK planning to liquid bomb can still (sadly) target domestic flights! argh....
