This is very common for walk-ins. I used to know people in hotels and they would tell me stories of how they would "pick prices" depending on how the person looked. People in suits paid more.

Wrong, but it does happen. One hotel would even post the average rates by each employee for walk-ins, and offer a prize for the highest average each month!
