I have the lowest cost salsa line, in 29" width. Not cabin friendly, but another poster pointed out what is appropriate in the salsa line (.52 I think).

In my past I have used a bunch of different types of bags.. All of them got me where I wanted to go but none of them really worked well. This one on the other hand does exactly what it should, get my stuff to the end destination with a minimum of fuss. it is expensive, but it was worth the cost, as long as you keep in mind it is a minimalistic design. There is nothing inside, only one small pouch. The mesh insert just rests in there, but it all works very well.

If you feel like you want to have pouches, shoe holders and other spaces (for wasting room IMO) then go up a line or two. The prices go up for each level of additional pockets and inserts, one level also gets you an internal skeleton. The salsa is not what you might consider to be "rigid" but pretty darn indestructable. If you need indestructable they have that too but it is very expensive.

I've done plenty of multihop international trips with semi fragile stuff in the bag. No issues whatsoever. I wouldn't fill it with plates and leaded crystal but well packed items sure.

My only real caution is stay away from the quad roller setup. That adds a huge amount of weight and is much easier to break. The dual roller 29" bag I have weighs in just under 6lbs (bare minimum of 4-5 lbs better than every other bag I found in the size class) and even packed completely and absolutely full I am right around international weight limits, at least going to warm destinations.

Local dealers CAN offer better prices, I know of at least one that might be able to ship if you can't find one where you are. No connection other than I looked forever and after going all over the internet the best deal was at a place no more than 3 miles from my house
