I flew to Tunisia on Tunisair (terrible airline but I needed to go from LHR at a certain time and BA fly from LGW) and the pilot and members of the cabin crew were smoking in the cockpit.
The (delayed) flight to Tunis was EX LHR.
I chatted with the crew and explained that I was pretty shocked given that they are supposed to be abiding by aviation laws.
I was sat in J, and when I went to tell my friend in Y how shocked I was at it, the hostess intercepted me and got shirty trying to "shut me up", for want of a better term. She claimed they had the passport of the smoker, and it was not a member of staff. No one was collected by the police at the other end.
I can't believe she had the audacity to lie to me about it when it was so clear when smoke came wafting out of the flight doorway! They were even spraying airfreshener to try and cover it up.
To the smokers on here: I'm not an an anti smoking nazi by any means, but I thought this was ridiculous in 2008. It wasn't about the smell etc, but the principle.
Do you think it is worth filing a complaint or have I been accidentally been poisoned by reading too many free copies of the Daily Mail on BA and worked myself up?
Who should I write to?
