Some facts are obvious:

1) Many, many planes are de-iced on a regular basis every day.

2) These planes that have been de-iced do not ingest fluid or fumes into the cabin.

3) The plane in question did ingest fluid or fumes into the cabin.

4) Occupents of this plane required hospital evaluation of their medical situation.

I. in no way, believe I have the answers to what happened. That will be found out by the investigation.

I am stating this: de-icing a plane is a straightforward, textbook operation. If you do it by the book, everything goes correctly, as in no fumes/fluid in the cabin. That is the way it is with thousands of flights, everyday. That did not happen in this case.

Why it did happen in this case is because someone in the process screwed up.

The final reason will be determined by the FAA investigation, as it should. But I have to believe, that with as many de-icings as go on daily, for something like this to happen is a failure somewhere in the procedure for this particular flight.

If you can offer an alternative possibility, I'd love to hear it.
