I don't quite understand the details, but I suspect points to be deducted from your account will be the point level in effect when you actually issue the award.

If you just made the reservation but didn't issue an award certificate (if you can still do that), you run the risk of getting the new 2009 rates which can be substantially more.

I suggest you call MR by phone and get all of the details rather than depending on FT.
