If your flight is for a future date you should be able to reserve an upper deck seat, as Platinum, even on a Delta ticket. I've personally seen it done and have done it myself.

Indeed on a Delta ticket, Delta has to do everything, AF cannot do anything to your reservation, AF can only check you in.

If your flight is within 48h the seat map is under airport control.
