Two questions.

1. Trip to Hawaii during a peak time (April spring break). Choice between paying $800 vs. $550 plus 15k miles vs. 75k miles. From what I've read here, it sounds like cash or the AS50 is a better choice than going for the 75k miles.

The passenger for this ticket isn't MVP/G and doesn't care about miles or EQMs so that's not an issue.

2. If the trip was already booked using 75k miles from an MVPG's mileage account, is it possible to change this back to cash or AS50 without being charged a change fee?

I read that big long thread on MVPG and non-MVPG change fees and whether it was a revenue ticket vs. an award ticket and whose mileage plan it came from... but I'm still not entirely clear on it.
