The retention bonuses appear to vary irrationally from day to day. Doubt it has much to do with how many cards you have because I have gotten lots of bonuses although I do have lots of Citi AA cards.
Suspect it has something to do with how much use shows up on the rep's screen and with whatever retention marketing tests are going on when you calll to close.
