It has oft been reported that AC is stuck with fuel hedges equivalent to ~$100/bbl crude (I know they buy jet fuel, not crude). My theory is that on revenue tickets they will have to eat the fuel surcharge to be competitive. However on award tickets, they will continue to charge the highest fuel surcharge they can, because you cannot take your miles elsewhere the way you can with your cash!
So maybe we should sit on our Aeroplan miles until 2010 or so!
