This thread reminds me of flying back CDG-IAD back in early 2001, when I was in my mid-20s and a lowly 2P. I was not wearing my usual business attire that I had typically worn when flying; instead it was jeans, a sweatshirt, and a large-ish backpack after 3 weeks in France.
Stepping into the Premier line, I was told in somewhat-politely accented English that I needed to use the regular economy line. I flashed my card and got a surprised "hmph." After checking in, I asked the agent to direct me to the RCC.
"Monsieur...the Red Carpet Club is for members only." Once again, out comes the card. Once again, a "hmph" plus a raised eyebrow.
Meh, who cares?
