And why should I have to spend money for an item that isn't capable of harm and shouldn't be confiscated? It adds up. This MAY have been the case of a rouge screener with no supervisor, but the other rules (such as NO liquid purchases of ANY kind for US-bound passengers in Athens airport post-ID-check) point to a strong US influence... Sealed bags were not an option. That's not just a rogue Greek government rule - it's aimed solely to US-bound passengers.

Wrong. On this trip it would have been 6 and possibly 7 X-rays on 400 speed film to be pushed to 800 or 1200. The damage is cumulative.
I KNOW what the x-rays will do to my film. I have personally had 800 speed film images destroyed in the past with 4 x-rays of the carry-on variety. During this trip, I had no ability to have the film developed overseas.
