$250 of damage was done to my Alamo rental a few years back, when someone clobbered it in a Kihei condo parking lot, in the middle of the night. My file is a 1/2 inch thick and processing the claim took 7 months (before Alamo was reimbursed). There was no question as to my innocence. All of this was very time consuming and I incurred direct expense for long distance, photocopies, faxes, postage, etc. When it was all over, I thought to myself that it might have made more economic sense if I had simply paid for the repair myself.

For $60, I am also very certain that you did the right thing by driving into Kahului and purchasing the part and installing it yourself.
