nwa.com OLCI procedure change for those that can't OLCI
I know the title is somewhat confusing but it's true. NW has toyed with my emotions today.
I'm one of the US Government's permanently black-listed, give-a-hard-time-to-get-on-the-plane guys. But interestingly enough, NWA is still the only airline that prevents me from doing OLCI. Continental, Alaska, even Delta never give me a problem. Not to mention that when I try to board a plane in Europe back to the US they have to call someone! Ridiculous. Nonetheless...
As I eluded to, I can't check in on nwa.com for an outbound portion of a trip. I haven't been able to for years. It really stinks, especially when I may not have received an advanced EUA or changed my flights at the last minute.
Imagine my surprise today when I attempted OLCI for my trip that was supposed to be tomorrow but is now the red-eye tonight. OLCI appeared to work! I saw my reservation, I was able to see the seat maps and change my seats if I wanted to. Here's the best part: I now have access to FlyNow and Standby options. That was NEVER an option under the old OLCI. I checked out the Standby options just to see what would come up. Everything appeared normal.
I then clicked Continue and I was asked if I wanted to print/fax/kiosk my boarding passes. I chose kiosk. Unfortunately, after I clicked continue, I got a "Your reservation is not available for check-in on nwa.com. Please see an agent." The cool thing is the title of the window is now "Selectee/DNB".
So while I was temporarily excited that nwa.com fixed their damn issue with allowing me to check-in, they haven't. However, people in my position can now use FlyNow/Standby. I assume this might also affect battlefield upgrade position as we'll get on the list earlier.
Overall, nice improvement NWA. Thanks. ^
Now - when will you let me check-in online for outbound flights? You are the only airline that stops me! It's bogus.
