Last I tried it, you could standby/confirm flights after your departure time as long as it is not over 24 hours in the future so I am not sure what missydarlin is talking about. If you check in 24 hours ahead of time you will have no future options to choose from.

standby on the later flight or just the $25 confirm? It may have changed since the last time I looked at it.. I'll check with the olci team when I get back to the office after the holidays.
