USAir trick: Preferred level easier to achieve on other airlines, not USAirways
Most airline elite levels require one to qualify based on actual miles only (bonus miles don't count). The exception is for the short trip, most airlines credit a minimum of 500 or 750 miles to elite level qualification.
This is not true for USAirways. If your flight is 89 miles, that's all that counts towards elite level.
I am thinking of downgrading US on my own priority list. This is because I can only sustain gold elite on 1 airline and silver on 1-2 airlines. I am not a heavy duty road warrior
