I have 3.5 hours in Vegas (the only place where I actually change airlines). So, it sounds like AS should check them at least through to MIA? Unfortunately, I have 6.5 hours in MIA...so American may make me claim and recheck (no airline transfer there though).
The question then becomes, who is responsible for charging AA's fee - is it the Horizon agents in BZN? I have MVPG on AS, and certainly won't have more than 2 bags, so there should be no AS bag fees.
I suppose there's a chance that by the time I show all of my itineraries and record locators, everyone will be so confused that they'll forget to charge the fees!
You pay AS fees for bags in BZN... since you are checking/flying on AS/QX metal first... and no bag fees for first 2 bags... $25 for third bag

- AA should accept the interline from AS with no issue, especially with a 3.5 hour wait in LAS (to have fun in the CO PC & slots I'm sure

- heck - almost enough time to go airside to In-N-Out!)
As far as a 6.5 cxn in MIA... not sure what AA's regs are on this... good luck though!
And if you need to recheck in MIA... it is an int'l flight so it should be a 2 bag free deal...
