FWIW, was just in Cape Town, and the soccer stadium is still under construction, amid a fair amount of controversy. Long story short, there's serious question whether the infrastructure there is really going to be able to cut the mustard. Plus, it's an open secret that other countries are already standing in line to step in if SA has to bail at the last minute.

The stadium in Cape Town is in a primo location if they finish it, but there are serious questions about access, parking, city services, and yes, hotel space. The locals are upset that so much valuable public land has been used for a massive stadium that will basically be used to its capacity once.

It's not a happy subject down there.
