I highly recommend Minang Asli as well. In addition to the very good Rendang, they make a really good Nasi Goreng (I usually get it with ayam/chicken) and their satay is very good as well. Another Indonesian restaurant in the Elmhurst area is Upi Jaya but personally like Minang Asli better. I've seen diplomats from both the UN mission and consulate come all the way to both restaurants for some home cooking!

There is a small Asian supermarket (not the Hong Kong supermarket but one across the street) as you come out of the subway to go to Minang Asli that sells Indonesian products such as Sosro Tea, krupuk and various spices. Will post back if I remember the name.

Another good Malaysian restaurant is Satay House on Kissena Blvd in Flushing. Their rendang is good as is their Roti Canai.
