Yes, you can likely double dip in this case. The system recently did a sweep to determine people's status for next year. At 27k miles, you had achieved Prestige, but were likely deemed to be too far from Elite that you were not likely to achieve Elite. Take people's advise to choose items such as certs and MLL passes (avoid bonus miles that can be debited when you select your E benefits). Log in to aeroplan to see if you can select your P benefits; if so, make your selections.

Last year I had approx. 90 segments when the first sweep was done. I was not notified that I had achieved SE status, and could not select any benefits. I was able to make selections in the next sweep a few weeks later.
