If you arrive ontime (which you should from SLC) you'll have no problem. Farthest points at DTW are doable in 38 min.

MCT in DTW is 30 min

NW will not ticket 29 min but will ticket 30. I had a 32 min connection on Friday but my outbound was delayed 7 min, so I ended up with 39 min.

Do not check your luggage. You will be flying mainline then Mesaba, there will be no planeside luggage cart to wait for in DTW.
