I agree, all I am saying is that every seat as been assigned and the flight is probably overbooked. That is why the OP cannot select a seat. This happend to me on SFO-ORD once and I went to the gate and ended up in an E+ window after I asked for an E+ seat before the GA started assigning seats.

BTW-What is the "I give up" message.
