Three tricks --
1) Get a seat near the front of the plane
2) Check your luggage so that you don't have to wait for it to come up at the gate.
3) Call the 800 number to check the status of and the gate for next flight
*while* you are taxing in from the runway at DTW... that'll tell you which way to turn at the end of the tunnel.
BTW, I'm just back from a SR where all three of my flights were delayed.
