From Auckland I like sitting on the right hand side of the plane (side opposite entry door) and hope for a landing from the south, which means you get good views of the Marlborough Sounds (top of the South Island). The view landing from the north is not as exciting.

That said, it all can be very exciting if there is a good breeze blowing!
